Start here for easier singing.

If you want your singing to feel easier. You need to be able do 2 things well.

Be able to change pitch OR stretch

Change volume OR adjust connection.

And to do these 2 things with precision AND also independence. Because often it’s the lack of independence that makes singing harder. For example, as you sing higher you need to add more and more pressure.

So I today I want to share an exercise that literally came of the back of a Zoom lesson with one of my private lessons which can help you build this independency. Also you’re interested in that or any of my self study programs (link are down in the description)

So what’s the exercise?

Now what is happening?

I’m doing a small jump. And finding the top in a falsetto first.

Why? Falsetto is going to allow me to find the placement OR the correct stretch for the voice.

From there, I’m adding a bit of weight then coming back down.

Now this exercise is simple. But what will make a difference is how you actually EXECUTE it. Are you getting the details right.

So let’s talk more about what we’re looking for? How do you know if you’re doing it right?

Well here’s a few cues. If you keep the stretch and learn to add weight properly.

You should be able to stay on pitch and add weight/switch, without it feeling like a big jump or exerting a lot more.

What’s some examples of this?

• You don’t have to add these knee jerk body movements

• You shouldn’t have to feel like you have to push a lot more volume

• The adjustment should feel quite small

So see if you can see with this exercise for the next week and see if you can get this one down pat. Because once you do, it’s really highlight for you. What these 2 fundamental functions can feel like. And especially when you do them with good precision and independence.
