7 Minute Vocal Warmup (Guided Lesson)

Hey team! Here is a 7 minute guided warm up easy warm up/work out for your voice. In this guided workout we’ll be exploring warming up your voice by tackling different dynamics. If you enjoy this! Please let me know in the comments below so I know to create more like this.

Make sure to do this with a good speaker OR headphone.

Also you definitely want to save this lesson to reuse in the future. so hit that like button or save it somewhere. I’ve put timestamps in the description so you can skip straight to the part you need next time.

Now it’s hard to cater these exercises for everyone. But if this is too easy OR hard you can make it harder by speeding it up OR transposing it with a tool. I’ve linked it down below.

Now last but not least! If you’re having trouble with the exercises OR want to take your singing to the next level. I do offer voice lessons and structure singing programs. If you’re interested, check out links below.

Anyway! Let’s jump in.

Exercise #1 - Soft, middle, loud

So exercise number 1 is about establishing clear dynamics on every single note. It’s so important for us to be able to hit the same note, from soft to medium all the way to loud.

This gives us more options to express ourselves and also from a technical lens gives us the ability to not always have to sing loud all the time.

So this exercise is very simple. I will play each note 3 times. Your goal is to repeat it in a soft volume. A middle volume and then a loud volume. Try not to let the pitch change as you change volume AND try to keep the sound clear and not breathy. Especially those softer ones.

If you can’t seem to find these change in volumes easily. Try using singing the notes on the words ‘SOFT, MIDDLE, LOUD’. You’ll notice me do this in the demonstrations.

Anyway! Let’s get to work and give it a try.

Exercise #2 - Developing independence between VOLUME and PITCH

Workout #2 builds on the first workout. The only difference this time, is we are now adding multiple notes.

What this is going to train is independence between volume and pitch. Often when we push/strain, a bit reason is we get LOUDER as we go up higher. This exercise aims to change that.

Now the flow of the exercise is we’ll go through a simple 1-3-5 scale, 3 times. Each time try to keep the volume the exact same from the bottom to the top. So if you’re starting soft. Keep it soft the ENTIRE way.

Feel free to do it on whichever sound/vowel you want! I’ll choose the UH vowel.

Anyway! Let’s get to work and give it a try.
